Monday and Tuesday rib specials!

ooooo weeeee! I love me some mickeys! Nothing will wreck your diet worse than a big mickey with mustard and grilled onions. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. This place puts all the other greasey spoons in the neighborhood to bed (including Johnny's....yea I said it!)
(5)Martin P.
Half slab of ribs with fries was great as usual BUT I really went in here for the BIg Mickey utterly fantastic! My partner in crime had the same thing not a word was spoken, it was just that damn good.
(5)Marcella D.
Just happened to see this on my way to the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park, IL (and DO GO THERE!!!). Big sign said "GYROS" and I love a good gyro. Other Yelpers gave it high marks for the riblets and gyros, so I foolishly ordered both.....WAY too much food, but OMG scrumptious!! Riblets were done to perfection, sauce was very nice (a bit too much of it for me, but it was GOOD). Gyro Salad was just as delicious, loved their home made tzaziki sauce (and plenty of it)
(4)Matt M.
Pretty decent ribs. The guy behind the counter either looks like a bad Elvis impersonator/undertaker. It is quite entertaining. He has this drab look on his face like he is being put out to have to serve you. Thats all fine because you don't have to deal with him long. The ribs are pretty good, reasonably priced, and come out pretty quick. Try the sandwich for great deal.
(4)Allan L.
The prices might be cheap for the burgers but the quality is mediocre. My first time here burgers were dry kind of taste like they've been sitting out for a while. I ordered a gyro plate..the cook didn't even cook the gyro meat or heat it up. It was like eating chunks of cold greasy gyro meat I had to reheat the meat up in the microwave when I got home....sadly disappointed. ..
(2)Natalia B.
Great ribs, and the sauce they use is really finger licking delicious. Had their big Mickey burger which i thought was pretty decent for costing so little. Not much fan of their gyro sandwich seemed too salty. Their banana shake was good although it did kind of taste like they used some kinda powder flavoring in it and not the real stuff.
(4)Eric S.
Oh Mickey, gyros so fine, gyros so fine they blow my mind Hey Mickey! Honestly folks I didn't even have to think about that one. The setup is just TOO EASY. Good gyros (as stated previously) and awesome service, if you want to call it that. It's actually just the register guy--who I'm fairly certain runs the joint--barking orders to the cooks, but he's super amiable and genuinely values the customer. Apart from the shaved lamb meat, they feature charburgers for a buck and yummy banana shakes (even though I'm positive they're made with powder). Fries are okay. Vast menu, cool people, and being located just a stone's throw from my apartment building makes for one happy Eric S. They also gave me a bunch of tzatziki sauce with my to-go order, for which I am appreciative. Ooh what you do Mickey, do Mickey, Go make my shake, Mickey!
(5)David P.
Mickey's has been a staple of mine for years. Family business with a HUGE menu, though I stick to a rotation of three or four different items whenever I visit. My favorite is the gyros cheeseburger with a side of Greek fries and a pina colada soda. I never liked liver & onions before trying it here. Unfortunately, the restaurant tends to attract some undesirables at night. A few years ago a McDonald's opened right across the street and I wonder if it's affected their business at all. But if you're driving down Harlem Avenue on an empty stomach and find yourself between Mickey's and Mickey D's, the choice is clear.
(5)P Y.
Big Mickey burger is amazing - of course need fries, too. I highly recommend their ribs - go on Mon or Tues for the special pricing on rib dinner - you get nice, meaty ribs, tons of fries, garlic bread and coleslaw. Check 'em out - plus the ordering experience is amazing! "2 big mickeys for to stay here, please"
(5)Alex H.
Some of the best ribs I have ever had!! The meat was literally falling off the bone. I ordered the half slab dinner and completely forgot I even had other food on my plate. I finished the half and had to go get the other half. I'm going to regret all that food in half an hour but it was so good, I couldn't stop. Absolutely delicious. The only reason for the 4 stars is because after eating, I went to use the restroom to wash my hands and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a couple days. The toilet was clogged and it could have used some TLC. Other than that, I will for sure be back here. Remember to come on a Monday or Tuesday for the Rib specials!! It's great!!
(4)Dino D.
The Mickey's "Big Mickey" burger might be one of the best burgers I've ever had. The double cheeseburgers come with ketchup, mustard, grilled onions and pickles. They recently raised the price on them but they're still well under $2.00 and just as delicious as ever. The gyros, ribs and rib tips are all great. They have a new rib sandwich that I recently tried. It's on garlic bread, smothered in their tasty BBQ sauce, lettuce, onions and pickles. The staff is always friendly and you can really feel the family owned and operated vibe. They have a huge parking lot, a lot of inside seating and great food.
(4)Kate B.
This place is AMAZING! The ribs are the best I've ever had and on Monday and Tuesday you can get a full slab or ribs, fries, cole slaw and bread for $14.99, such a great deal. I definitely recommend the ribs here, always friendly and fast service and which also makes it an enjoyable experience :)
(5)Dan H.
Great burgers, and the ribs and rib tips are excellent and a great value, especially when they are on special. Fast and efficient service despite a large menu. The only thing on their menu I wasn't crazy about was the Italian beef, which wasn't bad but certainly not up there with some of the other classic joints in the area.
(5)Ron F.
Mickey's is everything a place like this should be. The Big Mickey burger, the Riblet (which I recommend trying on a pita) the shoestring fries...I love this place. I no longer live in Oak Park, but when I visit, I almost always stop at Mickey's!
(5)Trina J.
I am so happy to have learned of this Oak Park Fast Food spot from my fellow Yelpers. I would have to agree that anyone who drives across the street to McDonalds needs their head checked. The fries at Mickey's give McD's a run for their money and McD's fries are probably in the top 3 fast food fry list of most people. I ordered a burger that was way to big (mega double cheeseburger meal). I thought I was getting the double cheeseburger meal everyone talked about but realized my mistake after I ordered. Either way, the meal was $7. Really affordable and fresh considering what you pay for fast food these days. This is a great find and definitely a good place to chow on the cheap. While I waited for my orders, several people came in to order the gryo, chicken dinner, ribs and rib tips. So, suffice it to say, there's something for everyone.
(4)Mayer C.
I was visiting the Oak Park area with three of my grandson (ages, 8, 11, 12) and a friend suggest this was a good place to get a quick meal. He was right. Our group had the chicken fingers, gyro, and I had the full rack. All enjoyed the food. Ribs were tender and plentiful. The included French fries over-flowed the dish. Excellent place to take kids ... lots of choices... very reasonable prices.
(4)Brandi F.
The burgers, fries and shakes are de-effn-licious. Mickeys is the perfect place for that once a week cheat meal or when you want to do some serious emotional wrong (hahaha). I order the regular mickeys burger that comes with 2 patties, cheese, ketchup and grilled onions. I suggest asking for a side of peppers for the burger. They seriously the burger to the best level. The portion size is appropriate for the price. I love this place!
(5)Nina B.
I've always enjoyed Mickey's. They offer comfort food! It was hubby's first day with students - ah the joys of returning to school. I send him off to meet his new adventures with a snickers bar and a promise of something special for supper. Enter stage right "MICKEY'S"! Their counter people are the best and funny! They always smile and chat if they're not too busy, which they usually are, but if they know your face they chat anyway. Once I told one of the cashiers, I think the "boss", that I was a "good wife", told me, "Be a better wife...so kiss your husband more". See they do counseling too, at no extra price. They all seem like characters out of a book - a really good book. :-) The food is always delicious and bountiful...okay and greasy, but it's too be expected, if you want salads and soy and overpriced there's Whole Foods down the street. Mickey's is real food for real people at a great price. There's something iconic about Mickey's - they've stayed the course and haven't submitted to the times - nostalgic.
(5)Brad R.
This is the place to get a fantastic Gyro, great fries and excellent greasy cheap burgers. If you don't like grilled onions the Big Mickey is not for you so make sure to say no onions or raw. They'll substitute or add whatever you want. i like to add mayo, lettuce and tomato to mine. Get 2 they're cheap ! And hearing one of the brothers call out the order to the chefs behind him like music to your ears. If someone orders water you'll hear "1 Lake Michigan" ! Great spot, used to be a Burger King back in the day to perfect seating area too.
(4)Michael C.
I might be the luckiest person in the world to actually within walking distance of this restaurant. Everything here is delicious. I've had the rib tips on garlic bread, gyros, and cheeseburger before and have not been disappointed. To further comment on the gyro plate... it's 10 dollars for a monstrosity of delicious grilled pita, french fries, and gyro meat. There's no better deal in the area. I've been going here for awhile now and I love their new fries! I don't know when they changed them but they are very very close to Mcdonalds in terms of texture and flavor, which I believe is quite the compliment. I just wish this place was open late!
(5)Thomas C.
Ironic thatt this place is exactly across the street from Mc Donalds because Mickey's "Big Mickey" blows Mc Donalds' Big Mac's doors off and comes in at a whopping dollar (ok, it's a little more than a dollar now but for years it was 99cents) But the rest of the menu is the real star. Gyro's (sandwich or plate), Fish, wings, Ribs (1/2 price mon. and tuesday), shakes, shrimp ... there is really something for everyone. They aven have ample seating if you want to eat there. Anybody who crosses the street to Mc Donalds is nuts.
(4)Lupe D.
This is definitely a "boys" restaurant. When we went here for lunch all you saw was truckers, construction workers, bikers - you know - tough guys who want a big meal at a good price - no frills - just good food at a decent price.... if that's what you want, that is what you will get here. Really nice selection of fast food items: hot dogs, burgers, ribs, gyros, fried zucchini, mushrooms, italian beef, italian sausage, polish, steak sandwiches, salads, fish dishes (shrimp dinners/catfish/perch), milk shakes, shoestring fries, cheese fries, etc.... They have several combo meals to choose from, they cater, etc. Portions are decent, and the prices can't be beat. Don't be afraid to go in and sit in the one of the booths for a meal - I was the only girl in the entire place and didn't even notice until I was walking out the door. Good grub my friends, good grub!
(4)Maya L.
Ehhh.. That's the most I can say about mickeys. Over hyped def, submarine tender and big guys blow this place out the water. My review is based on take out on st pattys day. The hubs and I get our value pak and being the coupon queen I am always up for a deal. So after seeing it advertised so many times my subconcious lead my preggo but to mikeys. We ordered two mickeys which folks is a double cheeseburger. Ill give it that its way way better than any mcdonalds but not anything special. Tasted kindof like the meat had a lot of fillers to be real. I do appreciate the thin patty though noyhing repulses me more than thick meat (insert dirty pun here ) Ill give it 3 stars the fries were not shabby better than the dark brown crap I see everywhere in chi. *yuck* Will try it again for rib night which is mon-tuesday which is a steal.
(3)Scott B.
I've had the gyro plate at this place and the gyros themselves were pretty good. Would go back to get them. Realized that in the future, probably better to just eat the food there as in the 10-15 minutes it took me to get home the fries were cold. Also had a banana shake that I thought was too sweet. Service was quick, to-the-point.

Mikey's is a great little locally-owned fast food joint that does most of the Chicago standards, some okay, and some they do exceptionally well!. First of all let's start with what Mickey's does exceptionally well: delicious mouth-watering Greek chicken, gyros, and milkshakes. You cannot go wrong with any item here involving chicken, and the gyros are some of the best you can get anywhere! I really like the hand-dipped milkshakes and all the wide variety of flavors they offer, too. Hot dogs and polish are pretty run-of-the-mill, good, but not amazing. French fries are decent, but nothing special. The Big Mickey is a decent burger, not amazing, but it will hit the spot, especially if you are fan of grilled onions piled high. Just a couple of things I would avoid would be the Italian Beef (which is very sub-par by area standards and more resembles a French dip than a true Italian beef), the BBQ dishes (which like most Chicago "BBQ" is just cooked meat with sauce), and the onion rings, which eave a lot to be desired. Bottom line though is Mickey's is an above average Chicago Greek fast-food joint that sells some decent food at a decent price.
(4)Emily J.
This is my go-to spot for dinners on the fly. It's greasy, it's cheap and it's good fast food. My staples are the Big Mickey with everything, fries and a shake, a hot dog with everything, or a gyro plate.
(4)Tansha S.
went there yesterday on a friday, and now they have new hours and they are now closed at 10:30. so call them before you go.
(3)Greg K.
After living in the city for a while I moved back into the area after 18 years and was looking for some good ribs and a cheeseburger. After reading the reviews and knowing that the Greeks know how to cook I thought I would take my family here. We ordered cheeseburgers, ribs and milkshakes. The cheeseburger was not good, the ribs and milkshake were mediocre. Awful food! For a better local choice Harlo Grill in Melrose Park has Cheeseburgers like the In and Out Burger in LA, California and for ribs that are to die for try The Great Escape in Schiller Park.
(1)Nata A.
Love this place! They always get my order right. Trust me not an easy task. Gyro plate feeds 2 people easily and cheeseburgers are very tasty.
(5)John M.
Stopped in for a quick lunch. I just wantto point out that there is no better deal than the Big Mickey. $1.52 with tax, for a fresh burger that doesn't sleep in a drawer like McDonald's! Hot fresh with grilled onion and a pickle chip.
(5)Yvonne B.
Oh Mickey, you're so fine you're so fine you blow my mind! I really like Mickey's. Like McDonald's, it has burgers, fries, and shakes and similar prices to boot. Unlike McDonald's, it's got personality in spades (and gyros). The owner takes my order at the only register and yells it back to his workers behind him. I like him. I think he likes me because he once gave me a chocolate shake. He kinda reminds me of the mafia though. Like any fast food, Mickey's is unhealthy. It's greasy and low quality (although better than McDonald's). It gives me heartburn. I want to like it a LOT, but I just can't because it hurts! Oh Mickey, what a pity you don't understand You take me by the heart when you take me by the hand I don't know a whole lot about the seating area. I've never eaten there. I always get my food to go. In fact, my coworkers have gotten into the groove of ordering lunch from Mickey's. They handle the sizable order pretty well (although the receipt isn't itemized). Mickey's parking lot is nice though. I've never had a problem parking.
(4)Tenea H.
I've been going to Mickey's for over 10 years, before I even knew about reviewing a restaurant. This joint is the best for REAL beef burgers and gyros. I can go there for quick fix when I really am craving an authentic gyros with cucumber sauce. I love how quickly they prepare the food. If you live in the area and have never tried this place, check it out!
(5)Grace N.
I was in the mood for a high protein dinner so we rolled in to Mickey's, where I took one look at the outside and said, "let's take it to go." Once we went inside, I was pleasantly surprised to find cozy booths in a diner-like space, so we decided to eat in after all. We ordered a full rack of ribs, a half bbq chicken, and a side of the fries, coleslaw and garlic bread, which you can tack on to any meal for $2. The meats were pretty dry, so I wouldn't expect a fall-off-the-bone experience, but I was still pleased with the massive amount of meatiness that we were able to achieve for about $25.
(3)Richard C.
The Riblet sandwich, Ribs, or Big Mickey will never let you down. Been eating here since I was a kid. Love me some Mickey's.
(5)Michelle B.
They were OK & I've tried them twice now. The first time was In Oct 2012 I had just started working in the area. Ordered the burger special everyone talks about. The lettuce tasted was soggy and the burger tasted like it was freeze burned. I recently gave them another try with my co worker right before Christmas. We split a burger meal & a hot dog meal. First when I went in to order the gentlemen at the register tried to change my order to "save me money" I tried to explain to him I only wanted 2 cheese burgers and 2 hot dogs the meals but he wouldn't listen to me. I said fine put it in however you think is best maybe i missed something. He then gave me the total I double checked the total we had written down & said no that isn't right my way is way cheaper. As i proceeded to explain what I was trying to originally order he calls out 4 big mickeys for me. NO lol not what I ordered. We wanted the #2 combo meal which is 2 cheeseburgers fries and a drink, then we wanted a #3 which is 2 hot dogs with fries and a drink. After a minute or two of explaining he got the order correct & I believe he actually gave me 2 big mickeys instead of the smaller regular burgers. However when we got the foot back to the office it was just again not that good for both myself and my coworker. my burger was fine just didn't have any flavor to it hers the lettuce was soggy & there was a ton of it on there, her burger was under cooked & our fries were over cooked & under cooked. I think we'll stick to the Mickey's in Villa park different company/owners.

Some days you just wanna eat your comfort food in your sweatpants on your couch. Mickey's is perfect for such an evening. The gyro is HUGE with tons of meat, two pieces of pita, a generous portion of sauce, super thin sliced tomato and onion and enough french fries to serve a small country. The ribs are super affordable (especially on Monday and Tuesday nights), fall of the bone tender and not over-sauced. It too comes with a generous portion of fries (feeding yet another small country), a small container of decent coleslaw and some garlic bread. I always plan to branch out on the menu, but am always order the same thing because it's so damn affordable and so damn good. If your in the neighborhood, you might as well grab some grub to-go.
(5)Thomas B.
The Big Mickey is as good as any burger around. It is simply delicious at a great price.
(4)Rob W.
I have heard that the ribs here are very good, but have yet to try them., That's probably because I love their gyros and rarely order anything else but gyros at Mickey's. Good value, great flavor. Most gyros meat and the pita bread is fairly standard from place to place. Some places will give you meat off the spit if it's been rolling around for an hour - Mickey's has enough volume so that never happens. Good fries too. A conservative 4 star rating - really 4.5.
(4)Grace I.
Went here a while ago after seeing a movie with some friends. My hot dog was pretty dog. I had a small fry, but they give you so much! It's better for your wallet, but not really your stomach. And, the vanilla shake is thick and creamy.
(4)Sandra L.
My Guilty Pleasure Love Mickey's. Great rib specials on Monday and Tuesday. Good burgers and fries. Scrumptious milkshakes. Good coney dogs. They're known mostly for their comfort food but they even have a good Greek Salad.
(5)Laura S.
Every town needs a place for cheap, good, and filling food - Mickey's Gyros & Ribs fills that niche for Oak Park. There was nothing unusual or outstanding about my gyro sandwich, but everything was very well done. The meat was tasty, the pita soft, the tzatziki cool and crisp. The veggies were what you'd expect from restaurant vegetables. Going into Mickey's can be a bit overwhelming - it's crowded, but the line moves very fast, so you don't have a lot of time to hang out reading the menu. You'll get an insane amount of food for your money - and it will be hot, tasty, and served in a clean environment. It's fast, but it's not "fast food."
(4)Melissa T.
For the "I want something fatty and delicious" cravings, I go to Mickey's. I've been eating Mickey's since I was a wee one, and I love it just as much now as I did then. Story time! As children, my brother and I used to come visit family in the Oak Park area often. Growing up I would always get a Big Mickey; sometimes my brother and I would pull out the big guns and get a Triple Mickey, sometimes a gyro. Then, our trips to Oak Park became fewer and our love of Mickey's became a faded memory of delicious, calorie-laden food. No fast food type cheeseburger compared to Mickeys, we'd tell our friends, but we couldn't even be sure if that was true since we hadn't had it in so long. On top of being Big Mickey-less in the STL, finding a good gyro joint in St. Louis is harder than convincing an Imo's pizza fan that they must have burned their taste buds off years ago on hot provel cheese b/c Imo's is just that gross. Again, I began to question my memories - was Mickey's burgers and gyros that good or had my longing for the delicious grub skewed my taste buds' recollection? Taste bud redemption occurred when I decided to go to law school in Chicago. When I moved up to the Oak Park area this past year, the first place my brother and I went on move-in day clearly had to be Mickeys. He got a Triple Mickey (well deserved after the move in) and I got a gyro...and a Big Mickey. After stealing a bite of his burger (I was saving mine for later!) and chowing down on my gyro, I realized that memories hadn't failed me. Even if Mickey's isn't the best food in the world, to me the memories of its splendor as a child coupled with the revelation that it tastes JUST AS GOOD now is truly as good as it gets. Thank you for staying delicious all these years, Mickey's.
(5)Bill M.
I was glad to see Mickey's Gyros in Oak Park, as it saved me from going to the McDonald's across the street. They were touting the Big Mickey, which is a quarter-pound double cheeseburger, for only 99 cents. The combo meal moves the tab to nearly five dollars, with a pile of fries and a large pop. Everything was good not great, filling enough for a Saturday lunch. I came in just before noon and the place was almost empty, so my order was served very quickly. Past noon, the place filled up with families and other hungry locals. The menu features lots of typical choices like gyros, ribs, hot dogs, fish sandwich, and more. There is also a TV for some sports action.
(3)Ashley J.
Cheap and sloppy. Could be a good thing?
(3)Janet J.
This place is soooo good but calories are crazy high. A once in awhile treat. My daughter loves the ribs. They have great coupons.
(4)Stephen B.
This is my favorite place for Gyros. They make them with generous portions of everything. They are big enough for two meals. Their Big Mickey Burger is always low priced and tasty. One of the most enjoyable parts of the Mickey's experience is placing a large order. The person taking the order never writes anything down, yet I have never known them to make a mistake. From hot dogs to ribs, everything is good and very reasonably priced. They are also one of the few places that sells Malts. Mickey's is a great place for fun food.
(5)Jerome H.
Been back several times since last review. No problems with service at all. Even better, I discovered a few gems on the menu. I remember the first time I found the odd joy of a gyro cheeseburger and I thought it was awesome. The mega double burger makes the gyro cheeseburger look boring. It's what a Big Mac/Whopper should be, and although you wouldn't think it'd be that much different than a triple mickey, it is, and delightfully so. The chicken burrito is from another planet, and a total surprise that a place like this would have better mexican than half the places around. This menu is like a neverending wonderland full of treasure. I'm going to keep looking around, and if anyone offers you a map and a free trip down the rabbit hole, jump in.
(5)A. J.
Excellent Place, great service. Never had a disappointment (although I wish they had the crinkle fries like in their pictures, but whatevs - their straight, thin fries are good too). Standard fryshack fare - burgers, ribs, gyros, chicken.
(4)T M.
I have had many a big mickey, hot dog, and a gyro or two over my time in oak park. Today was first time for the ribs. Picked up a full slab of the monday special; slab, fries, garlic toast, and slaw out the door under 15 bux! I can not say they rival the likes of smoque but man they were really pretty darn good. Great deal and quick! Lot of good food for 15 So I recommend Mickey's when ever your in the hood and need a quick decent fast food or more kind of meal!!
(4)Irina H.
When you want gyros, this is the gyros you want. Hot, fresh, soft and delicious. I'll ignore the poumpadoured, gold-chaining wearing owner's slightly sleazy demeanor to make this my permanent gyros stop (heck, that probably adds to the authenticity).
(5)Mark P.
For what it is..it is AWESOME!!! All their food is "good". My favorite is their 7 Buck Gyro dinner. TONS of meat and their onions are super tasty. They are across from Micky D's and I am sure Ronald gets tired of having his behind handed to him everyday!! The staff is aggressive...they get your order right ALWAYS.
(4)Brad H.
Love the gyros plate: excellent warm pitas and chilled tzatziki sauce, and a generous/almost unfinishable amount of gyros meat sliced right off of the spit. And the savory Big Mickey 1/4lb double cheeseburger (with grilled onions) is an absolute steal for $1.19! A STEAL I'm telling you...it's delicious. So get your mitts on one or two of them today! Enjoy.
(4)Junior D.
I don't ever remember biting into something and describe it as heavenly as my first bite of these AMAZING fall of the bone ribs!! After a 70's show moment with my buddies and talking about how good the ribs from Portillo's were but we couldn't afford a full slab for $20 bucks.... I checked out my Yelp app for local ribs.... Which led us to Rib-a-thon Tuesday at Mickey's on Harlem ave... $11.99 for a full slab of amazingness... We dined in and order 2 Full Slabs, Riblet Sandwich, order of mushrooms, 3 drinks for $38 bucks??!! Nice...... Didnt even bother with the cole slaw and garlic bread as my mind was focused on the Ribs... I think what sets these Ribs apart from any other places I eat ribs at is the amount of meat on them, the tenderness/ juicyness of the meat with little or no fat and the BBQ sauce is top notch! sometimes I would get distracted by the huge freakin Riblet Sandwich my buddy was eating next to me.. but these ribs were great!! Suprisingly so were the Fries... I really felt like going back up to the counter and thanking the owner for the great meal....4 stars because I haven't tried anything else but I will be back very soon for my gyro or burger fix..

It was Friday, funds were low and we were hungry. Mickey's to the rescue! Fast, cheap, good, no fuss food. Very flavorful chicken pita and fries for me and a burger for my boyfriend. We were in and out in around 10 minutes and less than $10 for both of us. Extensive menu of cheap less than healthy eats. Not much else I can say, tasty, quick, friendly staff, cheap. Check it out!
(4)David B.
Been going here on and off for several years. Their food is good and their menu is vast. Love their rib and their hot dog deals!

I. LOVE. MICKEYS. This was our go to fast food eatery growning up in Oak Park. Nothing has changed. You still see 'the kids' out having big mickeys and lake michigans. The food is always great, service never better. Never ahs there been a time the staff didn't say, "Hey, how are you, good to see you". Its just really nice. The best double cheeseburger. The best gyro. The chiken on pita is just perfect. And just when you thought it couldnt get any better, BACON on the Big Mickey!!! I tried it once, but i will stick with the original. But it was still good. This burger is done like no other. Cheese melted with grileld onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, two beef patties, all on a poppysead bun. Always satisfying. "One Big Mickey, one pizza puff, one Lake Michigan, for the stay here please!"

Based on looks alone, I would've never stopped into this place save for a client of mine who suggested their 99 cent hamburger special (um, well, thanks Mr client). I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and they were huge! And tasty too! I thought the service was above par and I appreciated the mom and pops type atmosphere. If your pallet craves a greasy hamburger, skip McDonalds and give Mickey's a visit.

Used to go to college in the neighborhood, and Mickey's was some of the best food within walking distance. A couple weeks ago, I was in Chicago for business and had the chance to go back to Mickey's after over 10 years! It was just as tasty and fabulous (and unhealthy) as ever! Great gyros!

I have been patronizing this place for well over 10 years. Never had any issues with their quality of food or prices...however it has always concerned me that their grill/food preparers NEVER wear plastic gloves. Go anywhere else in the area (e.g. Submarine Tender, Jimmie Johns) they always have their help wearing hats/gloves. Oh, health department...where are you ??? The last straw happened last night when I ordered 2 corn dogs to go. I got home and was ready to take a bite out of my second corn dog...when to my surprise....somebody had beaten me to it!!! How gross..Mickeys...don't you feed your help??? Last time I will ever set foot in that place again....I don't care how cheap your food is.....SANITARY conditions over rule saving a buck... Good luck with the Health Board....you'll need it!!! Have a good life::))

Cheap good food.

Whenever I'm in the Oak Park/River Forest area at lunchtime, this is the place I prefer to any of the Foo-Foo's cafe places on Marion Ave. or something. It has the look and feel of a blue collar burger and gyros joint on the outside, right down to the order counter displaying its menus and specials in your face. The smell of grilled burgers hits you the moment you get out of your car. Service is fast and there's plenty of room to sit at clean tables and booths. I can see it being a favorite place of mine if I were a local. And in KD's review, he mentions the Riblet sandwich. Any of you love the McDonald's McRib when it appears for a few weeks each year? Well, one bite of this mighty good sammich and you'll think of it as McRib on steroids (or growth hormones maybe)? Either way, it's the most awesome boneless rib sandwich besides Fireplace Inn perhaps. Being a creature of habit, once I get hooked on something I like, I will keep ordering that item every time I visit the place. And so, I can't offer further insights on their other menu items besides stating they give you lots of fries too...
(4)Pete D.
Nothing fancy here, just good grub on the grill. Mickey's gyro plate is usually enough for a yummy meal and leftovers, unless you were starving. Don't go to MC D's across the street, go to Mickeys, you'll be glad ya did.

It's only after eating at places like this that you understand how they're able to get away with having such a shady looking establishment. The gyros are killer and an absolute bargain. It's not a fancy place, but I definitely recommend it if you're hungry and looking for good food.
(4)Ian N.
It really doesn't get much better than the Riblet Sandwich. Huge chunks of BBQ pork on garlic bread... it's more or less the perfect sandwich. If you're having a crappy day, a riblet will turn it around for you. The gyros are also good as hell... also worth checking out the fried cauliflower.

Many other Yelper's have sung the praises of this "greasy-spoon"...and I'd like to be counted among them! If you haven't done so already, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and check this place out. Whether you're looking for a cheap meal that fills you up or something perfect to satisfy your craving for greasy food, Mickey's is the answer. Yes, their service is a little on the slow side. But the price and quality of your meal more than make up for it. (Besides, you usually encounter a wait because there are so many other people lined up for this goodness.) My favorites are their cheese fries (big, crinkle cut shapes) and grape soda. If you order a water with your meal, listen for the cashier to call out, "One Lake Michigan with ice." :) Bottom line...in a landscape of chain restaurants and mediocre fast food, Mickey's is an iconic "neighborhood joint" that doesn't disappoint. Now that I've had the rib-tip dinner. Oh, yeah, this is great cheap food. Just as good as the quality of the food is the prompt way I was served. That's so undervalued given that when you head to a greasy-style spoon you're ready to eat NOW, not in 20 minutes.

I was in the Oak Park area and had a taste for ribs. A simple search for "Ribs Oak Park" gave me two choices: Mickey's and Robinson's. Everybody likes their ribs differently. Taste is subjective. I read some of the reviews and honestly felt like I would be criticized by the Robinson's owner for just checking it out. The reviews and owner's responses are actually kinda funny. So I decided to check out Mickeys. The ribs at Mickeys were good. The meat falls off the bone which is a good test of properly cooked ribs... A little too much of the rich thick tomato based sauce, but I know people like it messy. The only bad thing was that the fries were soggy. Disappointing to snag a limp fry as soon as I got the bag. The draw to Mickeys is the 99 cent Mickey's burger which I saw people ordering them by the dozen. With a McDonalds directly across the street, I would much rather spend the dollar on a Mickeys than a McDouble.
(4)Matt L.
The Big Mickey keeps me coming back! You can't beat a quality, cheap double cheeseburger (current price $1.19) that I would liken to a cross between a slider and a cock robin burger. This place undoubtedly trumps the McDonalds that sits across the street.
(5)Mike D.
This place is awesome. Get the big Mickey. Or the chicken on pita. Or the gyro. Pretty much everything here is awesome. Great local place.
(5)Nico T.
Even the mighty Big Mickey has been ruined for me. The last time I ordered a couple, the buns were so stale they were inedible. The final dying gasp of a once great institution.
(1)John B.
Not for those watching their fat & cholesterol intake. Always great food and fast; love the gyro's; don't show up at Noon.
(5)Stephanie V.
this place is awesome! the staff is really nice and their food is delicious and affordable!! I would recommend the 1/3 cheeseburger or the gyros!! although their whole menu is delicious. they even have bbq
(5)T W.
Decent gyros joint. Good price and bug portions.
(3)Tina M.
My heartache is waiting waiting to hit me when I eat a Big Mickey but they taste so good. I always get a Lake Michigan to wash it down. Maybe that delays it a while.
(4)Kate P.
If you're in the area and need a hangover cure after partying too much on Madison Street, then you need to stop here stat! Things that I would recommend - - Ribs (full, half, rib tips) all amazingly good! - Jalapeno poppers (yum, yum!) - Cheese Fries - Cheese Burger - Grilled Chicken Sandwich on Garlic bread Oh yeah and on Monday and Tuesdays it is Rib special night. For $6.99 a half slab with fries, cole slaw and garlic bread is a great deal and a great meal. You just can't go wrong here!
(4)Eric S.
The Problem -- It's Tuesday and I am hungry after a long day. I worked through lunch and put in extra time at the gym. What is a poor boy to do? The Strategy -- Yelp myself to new eats in Oak Park. I've been lookin' for love in all the wrong places. The Solution -- Mickey's Gyros & Ribs! The sign in the window says "Monday & Tuesday Rib-A-Thon." I am in the right place. I order the full slab dinner, whilst eying the corn dog on the big board over the register. In a couple of minutes my food is ready. I get a large slab of ribs with meat falling off the bone, a large serving of run of the mill crinkle-cut fries, garlic bread and coleslaw. The Result -- The ribs were very good but the rest was bleh. It was all about the ribs, so I could care less about the fries and such. This was way more food than I could eat in one sitting. Mickey's is a place to go for cheap eats, and I look forward to trying other items on the menu. When I listen to the wind I can hear the corn dog a-callin'.
(4)Keith K.
This is a great place to grab some grub on short notice. Call ahead and you can get it even faster for carry-out. (it's too bad they don't deliver). The gyros plate is an awesome deal and the Big Mickey is as tasty and greasy as great diner food should be. The prices are fair and you can get a load of food for less than you think. It's WAY better than the fast food chain across the street.
(5)Bill H.
I've lived in the area for almost 9 years. This place was one of the first joints I started patronizing after moving in. I'm never going to spend another dime there. This past Friday night, my girlfriend wanted to stop here to pick up some food for her parents. So, we stopped there a little before 10:30 p.m. She got in the door in time. The owner decided to give her some grief for showing up so close to closing time. In the past, the restaurant was open until 11 p.m. I've stopped there before 11. Admittedly, I haven't gone there all that much lately, so I was pretty surprised when I found out they now closed at 10:30. The owner gave her some attitude, saying she should have got there earlier. She explained that she thought the hours were different because I thought the hours were different. The owner's response? "Your boyfriend needs to get with the program." So, I'm going to go with the owner's suggestion. I don't care what the hours are. I don't care about the closeness to my apartment. Don't care that I've gone there since I moved to the area. Getting with the program means I'm taking my business elsewhere. I can go anywhere and have me and mine treated poorly. Doesn't mean I have to pay for it. And if you continue to patronize this place, make sure you get with the program, lest the owner bite your head off.

Me too. I have been eating here for years. Best ribs I have ever had. Meaty, lean, falling off the bone - and cheap. Gyros plate could feed a family of four. Fast, efficient service. These folks know what they are doing.
(4)Mary Ann C.
Efficient staff, delicious food, easy parking......What more can I ask for when I am craving the best gyro around? Yes, I always order the gyro plate here. My husband says that other things on their menu are good too.....but, the gyro plate hits the spot!
(4)Mike P.
Best fast food burger in Chicago area. The Big Mickey Double Cheese is a great bargin. The menu at this place is huge. If you can think of it, and it's fast food, Mickey's probably sells it.
(5)Paige T.
we were in need of something relatively late one evening and luckily mickey's is open until 10:30. you certainly get your money's worth here. my boyfriend had the gyro which was enormous and delicious - although there were a ton of onions on it. i had the rib tips, which were very good as well. definitely a place to indulge a bit.
(4)Harry P.
Mickeys Gyros is the best gyro and rib deal in town. Whenever I'm in the Oak Park area, I always make sure to go and get my gyro plate (that can feed a family of 4) or my ribs. The only reason I won't give more than 3 stars is because of that robot behind the register. You know who I'm talking about right? That Ned Flanders guy. He's too robotic! I'm always expecting him to break out and start yelling "Danger danger Will Robinson!" Don't get me wrong, he's ok but I like the other guy better.
(3)Lisa P.
On the basis of other Yelp reviews, my family & I checked out Mickey's for some ribs. Being Mother's Day, it was pretty empty so we decided to eat in. Vintage Chicago is the decor. There was a great mother's day special: full slab for 11.99 --the standard coupon price (normally: 14.99). My husband had that, I ordered the rib tips sandwich, and my son had a small order of rip tips a la carte and an order of garlic bread. We also ordered 2 shakes (vanilla and chocolate) a Pepsi (no ice) and ice water. Everything came exactly as ordered and it cost around $33. The full slab dinner was, as my husband put it, MAN SIZE. All serving sizes were respectable. Altogether, it was a ton of food! We took home lunch for two! The BBQ is spicy (not hot) and there's a good amount of good sauce. We all liked it. The vanilla shake is da bomb! We will definitely be back for more ribs, and to check out the Gyros & burgers. I'm originally from NY, grew up with a lot Greek food nearby and am.... let's just say, picky about my gyro. My husband is a brotha who takes his BBQ seriously and LOVED Mickey's!

Been coming here since I started working near the place. Their food is great. Sure there is a McDonald's across the street, but no comparison to Mickey's. Their big mickeys are very good and affordable! Customize it to how you want. The fries are very delicious as well, even with cheese. I always order their shakes, and they hit the spot every time. I'm not a fan of gyros, but when friends order them, it's always smiling faces and full stomachs.
(4)Rahshonda K.
After reading Rosie D's review I had to make my way to Mickey's! Oh yes Big Mickey and Fries indeed. The owner looks like someone from the Soprano's a real character but everyone is always on the grind in there. My order has never been wrong in all the years I have patronized the place. It can get pretty busy but its a greasy spoon so don't expect to see nutritional information floating around all you need to know is its grease and that = FATTY BUT YUMMY FOOD!!!
(5)Selena R.
The Riblet Sandwich is great but I also love the gyros and rib tips. Good food fast and the staff is always friendly.
(5)Pete E.
Very much enjoy the food at Mickey's. My personal favorite is the grilled chicken on a pita. Their new fries are a big improvement over the old ones. The prices are reasonable too.
(4)David H.
ok ok, so everyone explained about how the counter guys shout the orders and all that stuff. I say the only thing to get here is a BIG MICKEY, a chocolate shake, possibly a second BIG MICKEY, then a cigarette and a walk around the block. I never miss a chance for this awesome double cheeseburger that now costs a whopping $1.19, up from the longtime price of 99 cents.
(4)Katelyn G.
This is your quintessential mom and pop fast food place done right! Service is quick and when you walk in, it helps to know what you want already. I've gotten the italian beef which was okay but I much prefer the ribs and a side of cheese fries. The gyros are sinfully delicious. I don't think anyone is pretending Mickey's is healthy and sometimes, maybe once in a while, greasy is needed!
(4)K D.
I love how the people operate this place. The person taking the order just shouts out your order and the cooks take it all in. The popular item here seems to be the hamburger so you'll often hear an order being shouted out in that thick Chicago accent "Big Mickey to go pleez !" But for me, there's only one thing that I get here and that's the Riblet sandwich. Basically, big chunks of broiled pork rib meat in bbq sauce on garlic bread. There's so much meat in this sandwich, the thing looks like a mini-football. One taste and you'll notice how the bbq sauce and the garlic from the garlic bread make a unique flavor combination. It's just bite-after-bite of glorious bbq pork chunks. Fantastic ! Their regular ribs platter may not be the greatest here but this sandwich is the best.
(5)Yvette B.
Use to enjoy it...and would always go for the cheeseburger with fries, but no more. On my last few visits this weird guy stands behind the counter giving me the strangest looks. He is not taking the order..just lingering back there eyeballing each person that places an order. I hate that. I don't need to patronize a place where one of the owners (must be) doesn't have the good sense to make you feel welcome. TOO WEIRD!
(1)Jessica M.
MMM best gyros ever. LOVED IT. No 5 stars because im not big on the location and theres always some shady looking people at night. But if your giving it a try your first time they have coupons in the coupon clipper mag. So check those out first!
(4)Kathleen C.
I used to work in Oak Park and unfortunately ate here on a semi-regular basis. It is fattening, greasy, great tasting food. Stuff that I shouldn't be allowed to eat -- EVER. But it was always so good and so quick. Fantastic cheese fries that get all over your fingers but worth the mess. And the guys behind the counter are pretty nice and will try to upsell you by telling you that you deserve a milkshake. Don't need to tell me twice! Chocolate shake coming right up!
(3)April S.
I love this place. It's a place where you can get good cheese fries and burgers. The people there are nice, funny, and entertaining to watch. They're fast workers and faster talkers! The place is ever changing with the decor on the walls. It does get crowded during the lunch rush and around dinner time but don't let it fool you.The line moves fast.Good hangout for the OPRF kids as well. They take plastic and as usual there's a minimum.Try the shakes.t's hard to get good shakes now a days.
(4)Roberto F.
Pretty good place, I like it much better then other places that are just like it. Pretty good prices on all there foods and it really doesn't get to crowded at dinner time. Haven't been here in a while but I'm sure not much has changed. Last time I was there, they still only took cash so bring some just in case.
(4)Justin G.
Best overall fast food place in the area. When they first opened, they used to take ALL the business away from the McDonald's across the street. Seriously, for the first three years that Mickey's was opened, I don't know how the McDonald's stayed open as NO ONE was in there. But now the McDonald's has some business again because Mickey's usually has a long line at dinner time and not everyone wants to wait in it, but it is worth it. The big drawback is that there is no drivethrough. The more main stream fast food items are also the best here. For example, I would stay away from a steak sandwich or a burrito here, but you'll be in heaven with a Big Mickey (1/4 pounder), a gyros plate (it's huge too), or a shrimp basket. The Taco Salad used to be my favorite too, and many people like the ribs.
(5)Renisha H.
good food and great locate by McDonald
(5)Ed A.
Big Mickey for sure. Definitely. Fries are perfect too. Good place also for the quick rib/chicken fix.
(5)Melissa A.
Delicious! What more can you say? I recommend sharing your french fries with someone else because the sandwiches are so big. Good value for the money!
(4)Koko C.
I finally, went over to check this place out. It is so over rated, the food was nasty and the service sucked. They managed to mess my order up and it took 2 tries to get it right. I ordered a hot dog with everything a fry and a gyro w/ everything. I got a double cheese burger not a gyros, when I went back I was given a hot dog, I finally got the gyro and it was not worth it.
(2)Andrew J.
So I tried the full slab rib dinner which is on special on Mondays and Tuesdays. Holy cow was it good. The portion size was good and the rib meat was just falling off the bone. The garlic bread wasn't that good, but the rest of the food was just fantastic. The big jarred pickles go great with this as well. I will definitely get this again.
(5)
